“Free telecommunications access portal for knowledge-based society: Project V”

Thai Telecommunications Glossary (TTG): 2011 edition serves as a free of charge for the public in the forms of book and electronics version via "Lexitron" (lexitron.nectec.or.th/telecom). It is in order to place for general purpose as an English-to-Thai telecommunication knowledge reference, to provide for common basic understanding of telecommunication with technical description, and to be a contemporary knowledge sharing & building pool via online social network. Basically, this project is extended from the previous core achievement, "Thai Telecommunications Encyclopedia: 2009 edition". Including with some additional information regarding telecommunication history from the "IEEE and Thai Communications History & Milestones 2011", this English-Thai glossary finally contains more than 1100 words. All descriptions are edited by a technical team consisting of experts from several institutions nation-wide. Further improvement and higher number of technical terms has been doing gradually based on on-line networking.

This kick-off TTG 2011 version is initiated by telecommunications society of the Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications, and Information Technology association of Thailand (ECTI-Telecom). It is co-organized by the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC)/NSTDA, and IEEE ComSoc Thailand chapter. Special thanks is to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) for its financial support to the hardcopy version, also an appreciation is for that long time support of "Lexitron"-team for their online version. Eventually, both versions of output are served freely to the public as the objective and then wishes to reduce related gap or digital divide as the project goal.

Finally, for the administrative support it is pleased to acknowledge staffs & interns of the Optical and Quantum Communications laboratory (OQC)/ ICCRU, NECTEC/ NSTDA.
